What is a dead pixel and how to detect it?

Modern displays (LCD, LED, OLED) are made up of millions of tiny points of light called pixels. Each pixel usually has 3 subpixels (red, green and blue). When one of these points fails, two things can happen:

  • Dead Pixel: The pixel does not receive power and always displays color black constant. It is more noticeable when the screen is displaying light colors or white.
  • Stuck Pixel: The pixel remains "frozen" permanently displaying a single color (red, green, blue or white). It is easily detected by projecting opposite solid colors.

Using our tool is the fastest and most effective way to detect both problems, especially if you just bought a new monitor and want to use the warranty.
