What is Ping and how does it affect games?
"Ping" or latency is the time it takes for a data packet to travel from your computer to a server on the Internet and back to you. It is measured in milliseconds (ms).
In competitive games like Valorant, League of Legends, or Fortnite, having a high ping means that your actions will take longer to reflect on the server. This causes the dreaded "Lag": You shoot someone but the server doesn't log it in time because your information arrived late.
What is a good Ping result?
• Excellent (0-40ms): Ideal for competitive and professional games. No noticeable delay.
• Good (40-80 ms): Completely playable and standard for most WiFi connections. You will notice lag only if you play at a professional level.
• Bad (More than 100 ms): You will feel delay when moving and delay when speaking by voice. If you exceed 150 ms, you will suffer teleportations (rubberbanding) in online games.
