How to test your Keyboard
- Ensure your browser window is active and in focus.
- Start pressing the keys on your physical keyboard one by one.
- As you press a key, the corresponding virtual key on the screen will light up. A successful press will permanently change the key's color to indicate it works.
- If a key does not light up or respond, it may be physically damaged or suffering from a software mapping issue.
What is Keyboard Ghosting?
Keyboard ghosting (or Key Rollover failure) happens when a keyboard fails to register multiple simultaneous key presses. This is a common issue for gamers who need to press W, A, Shift, and Space at the same time. To test for ghosting:
- Press and hold both Left Shift and Right Shift.
- While holding them, type a sentence like "THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG".
- If letters are missing on the screen, your keyboard suffers from ghosting limits (e.g., 2-Key Rollover). High-end gaming keyboards usually feature NKRO (N-Key Rollover), allowing unlimited simultaneous presses.
